Soho is made up of mainly older residential buildings called "tong lau" or "Chinese buildings." These low-rise buildings usually only have four or five storeys, with no lifts or doormen. Some of the top floor units come with a private rooftop terrace and are always highly sought after. Many of these traditional Chinese walk up buildings have now been renovated to a high standard and often come fully furnished. There are also high rise buildings, also with mainly smaller units. Soho living appeals to professional singles or couples who want to live in the middle of the city close to work and their social life.
